Word 200 & 2007 compatibility problem on the same Win 7 PC

I need Word 200 and 2007 on the same Win 7 computer, but they don't seem to reside well on the same machine. When starting Word 2007, every time after using Word 2000, it initiates a configuration process that takes a significant amount of time. The same happens for Word 2000 after using 2007, but it's configuration process is quick.

Any ideas how to have them both work without this process? Is 2010 an option to eliminate it?

You probably need the Office Compatibility pack. This MS website may help you, as it contains information about it & also a download site.

Open a Word 2007 document in an earlier version of Word - Word - Office.com

That's not the solution. I actually need both working versions on one computer. It's not a matter of just reading files.

    Hi badspell68,

Word 2000 is not supported by an Windows 7, so in spite of using 2000 use word 2003 and 2007. As it is compatible with each other, Or if you erg to use word 2000 and 2007 only than change your Window operating system from 7 to XP as it supports them. I hope this information helps you in understanding the problem.

    Thanks
