OUTLOOK 2010 Send/Receive not working after profile restore

Had some disk memory problems this weekend that CHKDSK fixed but left my user profile corrupted. After getting a new profile in working order, mail function has been restored but the OUTLOOK Send/Receive does not work on demand. The start up and the scheduled, automatic send/receive does work though.

Any suggestions on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated.

You might have to delete your user profile completely and then re create the user profile as it sounds like something may have corrupted it.

You may also need to select File from Outlook & then under Info is Account Settings, click on that & check that all your email accounts are set up correctly & have the right details for connecting to the email server that you use.
You can also test that you can send & receive from there as well, as a test email can be sent & then you can check whether you receive in the normal Outlook window.

    Thanks for your repsonse, MATTS6887.

I should have stated that I am working out of a new profile (have editted my original post). But I may eventually go down this path.

I was hoping there was a simple tweak in Outlook that might fix this.

    Thanks for the reply, Ranger.

I have 3 email accounts and they all tested OK individually and the Outlook test message was received in all cases. But to get the messages, I had to use my workaround - Close and Restart Outlook. I could have waited the 30 minutes for the automatically scheduled Send/Receive which also works. But there's no response from clicking on the Send/Receive All Folders icon or the keyboard equivalent, F9.

The following MS websites may help you diagnose the problem. Certainly try the Office repair suggested in the first one. if that doesn't help then browse through the others to see if they may offer some help. If not then post back for more help.

    Repair Office programs - Outlook - Office.com

How to repair your Outlook personal folder file (.pst)

Error occurs when you send or receive an email message in Outlook or Outlook Express

    Thanks for the links.

I tried the repair and it didn't fix the problem. I will try the uninstall / reinstal route this weekend.

I didn't have to re-install Outlook as my mucking about getting my Outlook working fixed this. My problem must have been related to links to my old, jumbled profile. In other applications, like Excel, my new Win 7 profile continues to point to files in my old, corrupted profile. After I got my email accounts working in the new profile, the Send/Receive on demand problem went away.

Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions.
