outlook hanging, permissions, add-ins

They did. I also went into the update manager to mark IE9 as an unwanted update so that it would not reappear.
i'm still suffering exactly the same probs as i was when last on this thread - perhaps i'll try that ie9 fix, pschaeffer.

otherwise, i've become almost sure in my contemplations on this that if i move my account to be the system's internal administrator account (the only real admin) all will be fine. hv just not yet implemented that as it's a labor intensive thing to do.

zdoe, have you tried running in Inbox Repair Tool?
How to find and run the Inbox Repair tool in Outlook

There is also an MS 'Fix-it' in the link.

Please let us know if it works.

scanpst

have now ran scanpst on the main inbox.pst -file.

my last experience was not so good with it - using the old version damaged the new unicode-capable container. had not noticed that i had a later one on my HD as well.

but all is good with this file now - we'll c. will report back if the crashes stop.

the msFixit program fails to install on my system - "cannot execute a script..." or some such thing. they should just distribute scanPst as a standalone program.

unistalling iexplore - i don't find it's uninstall from the uninstall dialogue. could take it out with revo, but that's a bit scary as it's heavily integrated with the o.s... maybe when i have a fresh clone of the system drive.

Outlook 2003 Crash (D3D10Warp.dll)

For several weeks I have the same problem. Outlook 2003 crashes with a reference to the D3D10Warp.dll. Now I can reproduce the crash reliably on my Computer.
  1. Click the "Answer"-Button in a mail, which you received in HTML-Format (important!).
  2. Make sure, that the mail format in the answer window is still "HTML".
  3. Move the cursor over the "Submit"-Button and wait until the hint in the yellow box appears.
Then, on my computer, Outlook crashes.

I find strange, that it doesn't crash:
  • when I do this in a new mail, which I created not via answering a mail
  • when I show a hint in another toolbar (i.e. formatting) of the ("crash"-) mail window
  • when the mail format is "Text" or "Rich Text"
I would be interested if others can confirm that too.

what sort of problems did you see? if they're anything like mine i'd be happy to kill iExplore - i never use it anyway.

I use iExplore sometimes, because some Websites are especially created for MS-IE.
I know, you would not recommend to visit such sites, but I need it sometimes.
For that reason I am not very happy with killing iExplore.

On the other hand, I think the "problem solving method" uninstalling iExplore may only work for a while.

I guess it may be a problem with the driver of my graphics adapter, intaracting with a previous update from Microsoft and it may be, that in the future other problems arise from this basic.

A few minutes ago I tested the behavior on my notebook - there the problem does not exist!
On my notebook is also iExplore 9 installed and works pretty good together with Outlook 2003. No crashes.

Outlook 2003 hanging and freezing.

I have a SKY account and the same infuriating problem happened many times a day and defied any attempt at a cure.

As an experiment I converted my e-mail account to an IMAP account via the setup menu. Since that was done apart from using OULOOK in a slightly different way it has worked.

Does that indicate anything to the odd boffin out there?

Outlook hangs

No solution but same problem. every hour or so the screen lines darken, if I move my mouse to the top tool bars they blacken. I run this scrip "outlook.exe /resetnavpane" and it generally closes "looks for a solution" and opens ok again. Other times I have to close with task manager. It then opens again with duplicate sessions equating to the number of times I ran the script

I have MSoffice 2003 professional. Have run repair process, have re-installed. I've tried to watch if it happens when I sort, go to unread, receive a mail but can't pin it down to any occurrence.

I am beginning to think it could be the size of my files?

i'm currently suspecting that there's some issue with file permissions that prevents outlook 2003 from working properly on win7/64. it seems that outlook keeps some security policies in the registry that are not file-level but need to be correct for things to jive.

started another thread here a while back when i couldn't manipulate the .PST files...

anyway - yes, - still unresolved.
