Office 2007 keeps configuring itself over and again

I have used Office without any hassle for several years in Win7, but recently I re-arranged the content of the hard drive so that downloads would go into a separate partition. Since then, when I want to open a WORD or EXCEL file, there is minutes of delay while Office 'configures' itself. How can I restore proper functioning ?

The thread in the following link might help and is worth a look through:
Microsoft office 2007 configures everytime I start it - Microsoft Community

This quote is from answer number 4:
    1. Go to the folder where the "setup.exe" file is. It'll be in either "Program files" or "Program Files (x86)

    2. Keep going until you get to the OFFICE12 folder, and you'll eventually find the "setup.exe" file.

(This would probably work for Office 2010 if the same issue exists there too (but in the OFFICE14 folder).
You've already installed the program, and hopefully have the original zip file you downloaded or the original CD, so the worst that can happen here is a re-install, and it already doesn't work properly, so there's no down side here. If you need to, make a copy of your original download file. Plus, you've already used the setup file; you don't need it to run any of the Office programs.)

    3. Rename the "setup.exe" file "setup.old." That's it. I almost fell over when I opened Word and Excel without waiting.
Please let us know how you get on.

I found another lead, and although I could not follow it, I fashioned the following successful procedure out of it :
the remedy for WORD is to open Registry and go to
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options
Click in the right pane to trigger a display of 'new'
click on that and then click on DWORD (32bit) Value
Substitute NOReReg for the highlit 'New value #1'
Right-click NoReReg; select Modify and the change the highlit '0' to '1'; click OK

The same can be done for Excel, but there is a complication, and I've not had enough time yet to decide whether Excel needs another post.

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Just one thing I would add - if anyone decides to make any changes to the registry, please ensure that you make a secure registry backup before you begin:

I would not dream of altering the registry unless I knew it was safe and effective. So I first made a clone, and tried the registry edit out on it. Only after I saw that the result was satisfactory, did I apply the edit to my 'main' system.

    Perfect process.

My previous post was just in case anyone came looking for help with the same problem, but was not familiar with the safe way to approach a registry change.
