Outlook 2013 -- Can't set up unless on HOME ISP
Hi there.
Seems the latest set of updates have hosed up OUTLOOK 2013 (again !!).
If you are AWAY from your HOME ISP or not on the Internet you CAN'T set up an email account (IMAP / POP3) since you cannot UNCHECK the Test account - this of course fails if either you are away from your HOME ISP -- (a lot don't allow SMTP logins for SENDING mail although you can always RETRIEVE mail).
If the account can't SEND and RECEIVE the test mail then the account can't be set up -- BAD ONE Ms.
OUTLOOK 2010 allows you to UNCHECK the box so the account can be set up -- so you can READ your mail even if you can't SEND any until you can logon to your home ISP. (You can via WEBMAIL things but I HATE those advertisement ridden webmail systems).
Sometimes in trying to make things TOO simple you actually complicate matters.
(Who designs this sort of stuff -- I can't imagine a lot of commercial products going through some sort of OFF LINE testing before stuff is let out of the door).
You sort of can force it to work if you can find an SMTP server that allows universal logins but these are as rare as hens teeth -- SMTP servers usually restrict access to their own customers from their own ISP to prevent SPAM / Bots and other such things.
Cheers
