Microsoft Office 2010 activation failed 0xc004f074

This turned out to be a complicated story, but basically after more research I discovered that the copy of Office on my friend's machine is pirated; apparently someone in the IT dept where she works installed it. Obviously it can't be activated and she needs to either buy a license or move to something else. I want to thank everyone again who responded here. Sorry this turned out to be a wild goose chase.

Thanks for this. I just recently discovered Belarc Advisor and it's really comprehensive; as you know it does much more than retrieve license information.
