VERY unusual issue with Outlook 2007.

    Hello all,
I have a issue with Outlook2007 that is so strange. I received an email from a client this morning requesting some information. Nothing unusual. I replied back and now this is where the issue comes up. Outlook 2007 will error out with a connection issue when connecting. After some troubleshooting the issue was a sentence in the original email. Yes I am sure everyone is going "OK were did this guy come from". But I am serious. When I delete one sentence from the original email on replying the message will go thru without issue. Anybody ever hear / see this issue?

    thank you for your time
    Bryan

Are there any special characters in the sentence that cause the problem.
I've seen issues caused by characters such as a null, unprintable chars, etc.
It can be difficult to find these as they may not be normally "displayed" ...
Sometimes it takes inspecting the data with a hex editor to find them ...

No the only special char is the "?". I tried to delete just the question mark only but still had the issue. I can not even forward the email as an attachment to another account to try and inspect. I have never seen this type of issue in the 30+ years in this industry.

I have never heard of such a thing but I do have some ideas.

Do you have some sort of security program that scan your mail before sending?

What anti virus and firewall programs are you using?

Do you have I.E. set default?

He has the paid version of AVG and it is set not to scan outgoing email just incoming and as far as IE is set to default that one I would have to check on.

Could it have something to do with a particular rule that may have been set about replying to received emails. This is only a thought & may be on the wrong track.

First of all I would like to thank you all for your replies. Ranger 4 there are no rules in Outlook that are set up. Every other piece of email works fine with no issues.

Right tick on that email and select to scan with your security programs.

    It's certainly weird ...
If LB's scan doesn't find issues,

You can delete one sentence, and no problems, right ?

I would copy the "problem sentence", create a new email, paste the sentence, and send it to myself ...
See if you can send the "problem sentence" by itself ...

What happens/what do you see when viewing as plain text instead of HTML?

How to view all e-mail messages in plain text format
