Microsoft Office 2010. docx file association

hi. I administrator approximately 300 xp and windows 7 32bit computers on a curricular network. we have recently upgraded to office 2010 pro plus and gave encountered the following issue. when users login they can access word 2010 and open .doc files but when trying to open .docx file types there is no program association setup. as our devices are restricted users cannot select open with and choose word 2010. when logged in as admin I have the same issue but can select ooen with word and this resolves the issue with the admin profile. we do not use group policy as our curricular admin network software uses registry profiles to customise windows abd apply changes. is there an HKCU config that can be set to set docx file association to winword.exe. setting HKCU file ext to winword.exe did not resolve the issue is there any other registry entries that would need to be updated to resolve this issue?

We have the same issue at work, however lucky for us our problem is when people need to download and print .docx documents. We advise them to save as .PDF and then print. There should be a compatibility pack available for you though?

hi. Thanks for your reply. Office 2010 supports docx format so a compatibility pack is not required.

Maybe it's something in Word Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings?
