Office 2007 How much different from Office 2010

    Hi there

I've managed to get Office 2007 (PRO) to install and run perfectly on Linux (with Wine). Office 2010 seems absolutely to resist working with Linux. Office 2010 32 bit version gets a lot of the way but then fails with "Un-recoverable error". I nearly DIED when I loaded up my old Enterprise office 2007 and IT WORKED !!!.

I can't see any perceivable differences between Office 2007 and 2010 that would make any difference at all to even quite a sophisticated user.

My VBA macros in Excel all work -- I've been playing around with WPS (Kingsoft) office on Linux but OFFICE 2007 has things like OUTLOOK etc which are very useful and WPS office is still in "Alpha" stage.

I haven't had any glitches in Office 2007 so I can't actually see what's wrong if I stick with it -- in any case I doubt whether businesses even in 20 years time (will long be retired) will not be able to handle office 2007 documents.

(I still have the "Terminal access" Enterprise key of Office 2007 i.e multiple activations so it actually ACTIVATED OK too !!).

    Cheers

    Jimbo,
Office 2007 is not "that" different from 2010. They moved a few things around and tweaked the ribbon in 2010. You can use this tool to get the menu back like Office 2003. Free for home users. I was so impressed I bought five licences.

    Thanks

@Indianatone - I actually REMEMBER seeing that logo you've got as an AVATAR -- reminds me of some of the old TV Testcards - with 24 hr TV these days you won't see them anymore though.

How about THIS one - Old BBC TV circa 1950 !!!!!! (I'm not THAT old though)

    Cheers

I found OneNote 2010 substantially better than OneNote 2007. I only use the other parts of Office to deal with documents I get from others.

    Hi there

Things like One Note are unimportant to me -- all I need really is WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT and OUTLOOK.

I don't need ACCESS, PROJECT, VISIO or PUBLISHER these days any more.

    Cheers

So does anyone think the 2010 versions are any better than the 2007 ones?

Here are some test patterns, some for use with 4:3 TV and a HD 16:9 test pattern from the BBC. The Indian Head is the RCA test pattern. I used to work for them and they threw it out in the trash.......
