Excel 2007 not opening as a window on desktop

When I open Excel (windows 7 Home) the icon appears on the taskbar with a small window above it confirming I've opened excel but I cannot get it to appear as workable window. This has only occurred within the last 5 days and I haven't downloaded any new software or updates - help. I know the file isn't corrupted as I can copy onto a USB and open it on another PC, it's just when I'm using my main PC. It appears to be opening in a non existent second window (see screenshot I've just captured attached) but I only have one screen!

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit sp1

Is Excel 2007 or Office 2007 the only version of Excel or Office 2007 that you have installed on your computer.

You could try going into Control Panel & select Default Programs, which will open some options for you to try.

Adding 'open in new window' to search results, & opening in new window
Whenever I search in W7, I want to have the ability to open found folders in a new window. If I r-click, that option is not there. Is there a way to add this to W7? Also: When I go to 'open file location', the file's folder opens in the same window - highly annoying. In Vista, it opens in a new...

IE9 Opening Excel file in same window as link
I just upgraded to IE9 for IE8. On a work website there's a button I click to convert the data on the web page to an Excel file. In IE8 when I clicked that link, the new Excel file would open on in that same tab. This is the preferred option because I copy and paste info from that file into an...

Can't open 2003 Excel Files in Excel 2007?
