Exactly where are you getting Microsoft Office from?
You could see if Belarc Advisor will show you the key.
Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit, for software, hardware and security configuration information on your computer. Software license management, IT asset management, cyber security audits, and more.
Your post # 3
From your post # 10Ugh! No, I don't have Starter install disks. It came w/the laptop I bought. I don't feel comfortable playing Russian Roulette w/the Control Panel.
This doesn't add up. What I'm I missing?that subscription crap that's giving me all this trouble and wasn't installed when I got the laptop.
If you have a legal copy of Office 2010 Click to Run you would have had to buy it, either by downloading it or buying the DVD. if you downloaded it from Microsoft you would have paid for it & they would have sent you the activation code by email.
If you did not do that then it is probably not legal. Office 365 is a subscription program & requires periodic payments to keep it working.
Your Office Starter would have come with your computer & it would have been preloaded & already activated.
Ah, so 365 and Click-to-Run is part of this subscription misery. But if I remove them, you think Starter will be broken?
If you haven't paid for a activation key no Microsoft Office will work.
EggieOGeggie are you reading our post?
You are not answering our questions.
Like my post #11 & 13.
Did you try what DavidE suggested in post # 12?
The best I can figure out because you won't answer my question is you are trying to use Microsoft Office of some kind or the other without a legal authorization key.
Is that correct?
I installed the subscription crap for 2 reasons:
- My wife needed to make PowerPoints. So I subscribed for their 30-day free trial then cancelled after a couple of weeks.
- God needed to teach me a lesson about giving my credit card number to M$!
But why is academic. What matters is that I want Starter to work the same way it always did for the first 5 years.
I used that Belarc thing to find the activation code, and under "Software Licenses" the only "Office" it had was 365.
