Do you have a legal activation key for Office Starter.
The key that came for Office Starter was a trial version installed by the computer company you bought the computer from and will no longer work.

Put all the posting in a pile and cover it up.

You either have a proper activation key for Office or you don't. Which is it?

The one that you subscribed is most likely Office 365. Is that subscription still current or have you cancelled it.

From what you have said Office 2010 Click to Run was for the 30 trial period, is that correct.

Office Starter is no longer available and has been replaced with free online Office Web Apps.
If you're lucky and you can find SetupConsumerC2ROLW.exe in your recovery media, you MIGHT be able to re-install it with that.
    An MS thread about this:
    Office Starter Download

If you can do a factory recovery, you should get Office Starter as it was when you bought the PC.
The factory recovery would wipe out everything you have now, and your PC will be just like it was when you bought it.

As far as I know Office Starter had a activating date and a expired date.
Microsoft knows both of those dates and will probable will not let it activate again. Or one could just reactivate over and over. Microsoft isn't that dumb.

    I'm not sure.
This MS thread says no activation is needed for the default Office Starter.

Another possibility - I'm not sure if you're interested in trying this...
    1. Create a System Backup Image
    2. Remove all the Office stuff that is not Office Starter
    3. See if Office Starter works
    4. If it doesn't work, restore the backup image

Or, uninstall all the Office stuff and get one of the free Office suites such as Libre Office, WHS, etc.

Ok, well I decided to simply remove 365 and fallback on the other options if that failed. It seemed to work fine. Now when I double-click on a *.doc* file or download one from Firefox, it opens in Word Starter.
    Thanks.

Glad to hear that it is working for you !
Thanks for posting back as it can help others.

If everything is working fine for you, i suggest creating a system backup image.
imho, it's the best thing since sliced bread.
