I have a Xerox Phaser 6180 printer. I also have contacted Xerox and I have deleted and reinstalled the print driver three times now.
Hello Audio and welcome back, I am not familiar with xerox printers so I'm going to suggest the following:
Try this and get back to us.
- Since you have a good driver I recommend that you disconnect the printer, then delete the driver/uninstall printer.
- Reboot the system
- Find the printer driver you down loaded and use the right mouse click and you will see a drop down menu.
- At the top of the menu you will see the option Run/Install as "ADMINISTRATOR"
- Double click on it. Let the driver install.
- Connect the printer and see if windows begins the installation.

I get a 7e error and the windows print driver installer cannot open
Windows cant open add printer. THe operation can not be copleted. Error code 0000007e
I have no yellow in Device Manager except for a device Windows 7 added - Teredo Tunneling Psudeo_Interface. I don't know what it is. I expanded the USB and double checked - no yellow nowhere in the USB area.
I have run an install of office as a repair and I have run diagnostics in word. Everything is okay. I am up to date on all updates from MS.
I have to admit, I am totally stumped. I can print a test page and from Notepad, basically from anything that doesn't use the Word Print Driver.
Any help would be more than appreciated.
To All - many THANKS!
I really appreciate all your help, your time and thoughts. As it turns out, the problems is a defective 64 bit Post Script Print Driver from Xerox for Windows 7 for the Xerox 6180N Color Printer.
After hours on the phone, we tried the PCL Print Drive and everything worked.
I also have a 8550 and the 64 bit Post Script Print Driver works for that printer, since I just finished testing assumming that I would have to change that as well.
So again, thanks for all you help!
Hi theaudioanalyst,
You might want to check for driver updates. Just like my printer, I found this

It mentions something about Office 2007.
