    MS Office 2010 restore

A friend bought a Dell PP33L with 7 PRO and MS Office 2010 for her daughter.
The price was right :) but it had some unsavory photos.

According to Dell site it doesn't have the right OS and googled specs say it shipped Vista.
    It wouldn't restore using F8 ..........

There was a 7 Disc Image File ISO on C: which I burnt to a DVD but didn't workwhen I pressed a key to install from DVD.

Out of frustration I tried installing it from the DVD after Windows booted and it worked. It never worked in XP for me.

Anyway, MS Office 2010 is in C:\windows.old\Program Files\Microsoft Office and my question is
Can I move that Microsoft Office folder to the C:\Programs folder and reinstall Office with its original key?

You better check to see you haven't ended up with a counterfeit system:

    Please perform the following:

    1. Download and save this tool to your desktop:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

    2. Run the tool, and then click Copy - ignore any errors if they appear

    3. Use CTRL+V to paste the unedited results of the tool here in your next reply

You might also consider starting fresh and wiping the drive completely, if you haven't done that already, given the nature of the images you found - who knows what else may be lurking there.

    well48.
Just reinstall Office 2010, don't move the Office folder from Windows old as it may cause problems with the fresh install of Office. Any software Programs located in the Windows old section will have to be reinstalled on the the new version of Windows. They will not work if you just copy them over.

Once you have done the Office reinstall you can locate any Office documents, spreadsheets etc. that you may wish to copy from Windows old to a new folder in you Documents Library. You can move documents etc. from Windows old, but not programs.

Do you have an activation key for Office 2010. If you do you may be able to download a copy from Microsoft, but you will need to have the activation key ready to type in when requested.

    Try this MS website
    https://www7.downloadoffice2010.micr...country_id=USA

If you don't have an activation key you will have to buy a new copy.

That seems to be what MS are doing these days as Office 2010 is getting hard to find.

Have a look at this one. Scroll down & there is a link to download Office 2010. I have not tried the actual download as I don't need it, but check it out & see how you go.
