Office 2003 won't update on clean Win 7 install

Hi - I was able to install Office 2003 Small Business Edition (upgrade version) without any apparent problems on a machine that had a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit (from Win XP).

I expected it to trigger Windows update to download various updates and service packs but it didn't. I went to Windows Update and had it check for updates and it didn't find any.

I tried the check for updates link from the Microsoft Office webpage but that just pointed me back to the Windows Update program.

I tried the change, then repair options from the Program Uninstall or Change Window. It worked without error but still no updates.

How do I get Windows 7 to recognize that Office needs to be updated?

Any help would be most appreciated -

    Dave

Were you able to register Office?

Does Windows update work in regards to 'service packs'?

In my Windows Update settings, I have the Recommended Updates and Microsoft Update boxes checked. Do you?

(I've received updates for Office 2003, including SP3.)

    Fixed by installing Silverlight!

Hi - thanks for the two replies.

I was looking to see if I had Microsoft Update checked but I didn't have that option even showing. Another search found a post that mentioned the problem went awy after installing Silverlight. So I did and at the end of the installation you get to check an option for enabling Microsoft update.

I did and it works - just in the process of downloading 18 updates!

    Thanks agian -
