Accidentally deleted pst file. Now Outlook will not open

I made a big mistake. I accidentally deleted my pst file for Outlook. Now Outlook won't open. The error message says the pst file cannot be found. Of course it cannot be found. I deleted it. It's gone.

I tried uninstalling Microsoft Office 2013, restarting my computer (Windows 7), and reinstalling . I'm still getting the same error message.

The web has plenty of sites telling how to repair a pst file, but I can't find any that tell what to do if the pst file no longer exists at all.

What can I do? Is there some way to create a new pst file without being able to open Outlook?

Have you searched the HDD for a *.ost file? Maybe something on this Search page will help.

    Edit: forgot the link. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=outlook+re...from+.ost+file

Yes, but this was a newly installed Microsoft Office. The only thing I had tried to do was use the pst file that had been saved. There was no ost file yet.

What I think I need to do is either find a way to somehow create a pst and place it into the Outlook Files folder or find some way to work around it. The only other solution I can think of would be to format the drive, reinstall Windows 7, and start all over again. That solution, of course, is out of the question. As much as I'd like to use Outlook, that's too extreme a solution.

I'm hoping someone can help me with this.

You could try Recuva to see if you can recover the file.

Hi santol. If the solutions provided by Berton & DavidE do not get you running again, have a look at this MS website. If you read through it you will see that you need to set up your email accounts again & this can be done by opening Control Panel & clicking on the Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2013) applet.

Read through the info in the website & follow the directions & see how you go. The information is actually for Outlook 2010 but it should work for Outlook 2013.
