One question you never answered... did you read all of what I told you to read? A simple yes or no answer will do.

If you had gotten off your high horse and actually read it, as advised by more than just me, you would have found all the answers you needed. It would have taken you less time to have done so in the first place than it took you to compose those pretentious, loquacious, arrogant excuses (see, I can use big words, too).

    Lady Fitzgerald
As in your last attempt at wishing to appear to “share” the same path as Paul1149, I see you are now trying to suggest you were not alone in pointing me toward the Word “Help” file.

This of course is incorrect as you were the only person suggesting such a course of action, Paul1149 having been much more precise and focused in his recommendation.

For someone who found it necessary to resort to implied profanity and derogatory remarks in only their third communication on the original subject, I am amazed at your suggestion of my pretentiousness, loquaciousness and arrogance.

Pretentiousness is usually only experienced physically in social or business gatherings.

Arrogance is often found confusing to those with little or no knowledge of a subject under discussion. The assumption of a more knowledgeable person’s arrogance, therefore, is often too frequent, too readily concluded and, invariably, unjustified too.

Loquaciousness is essential when the recipient of a communication fails to grasp its detail, and in-depth and protracted explanation becomes necessary.

    Regards,

W.C Fields would have been proud of your attempt, pathetic though it was, to follow his advice about what to do when one fails to dazzle with brilliance.

As far as me being the only one to suggest my course of action goes, go back to post #9 where Paul flat told you that you were not reading his and my responses very carefully. Instead you chose to ignore what I had posted (which would have told you exactly what you needed to know had you not been too arrogant to read it and was a more detailed version of what Paul told you) and struck out on your own.

Pretentiousness | Define Pretentiousness at Dictionary.com. Nowhere in the definition does it state pretentiousness being limited to any setting. Note the synonyms: Pompous, bombastic, showy, grandiose. Your protracted responses fit those perfectly.

Arrogance | Define Arrogance at Dictionary.com. No confusion on my part here. You simply could not be bothered to read the advice given to you due to your ignorance based what you assumed the advice was.

Loquacious | Define Loquacious at Dictionary.com. In your case, your loquaciousness only served to obfuscate the baseless point you were attempting to make with your pretentious diatribe.

All of which leads us back to W.C. Fields famous quote. Read the quote here.

Hey, keep it up, old chap! I'm having fun with this.

    Lady Fitzgerald

I apologise, but I am unwilling to allow your use of “roflmao” to go by without expressing my absolute distaste of such a ridiculous form of communication. Unfortunately, its use appears to be coming more frequent. However, it is achieving nothing, other than to accelerate the destruction of the written word and, eventually, the spoken word. In my opinion, the English language is being decimated by the use of this lazy, insecure, and highly damaging form of communication.

    However, that aside ----

I am, of course, delighted you consider W C Fields wouldhave been proud of me.
However, and I think this is possibly the area with which you struggle to either understand or accept about my communications, my submissions are more facts based than having been constructed to show brilliance or BS, so I doubt he would actually have given them a seconds thought.

I have noted, yet again, your own guilt in obfuscating a problem with extraneous information by the misrepresentation of facts. Some might even consider you as being a little loquacious too, perhaps.

Your first obfuscation was when comparing your Click on Word Help (the little blue dot”with that of Paul1149’s “I think you want to create a Table of Contents” and claiming they were the same --- they are, quite obviously, not.
I suppose your - “Curious.Paul's path and "mine" (actually Microsoft's) are the same” could equally be termed obfuscation too, as your introduction of Microsoft’s alleged involvement, was irrelevant to everything.

Using your provided link to the definition of “arrogance”, I discovered it to be “an offensive display of superiority or self-importance”.
The definition could therefore apply to expressions such as have been used by you in most of your communications on this subject to date.

For example – “if you would just RTFM” or, “read what I told you to” or, “I don't really care which "path"you choose” or, “If you had gotten off your high horse” or, “you to compose those pretentious, loquacious, arrogant excuses”.

A “commanding level” of offensive superiority, together with a definite indication of self-importance, is certainly present in most.

Then, of course, we have ---- Pretentiousness.
According to your own definition -- Pompous, bombastic, showy, grandiose.

Q --- Could someone who considers themselves eligible to a “Title”, (albeit in an avatar), such as “Lady”, be considered Pompous, Showy and Grandiose?
A --- I believe so. Perhaps with delusions of grandeur as well

Q --- Could someone who makes use of expressions such as “I told you., Do this., I directed you etc., and then resorts to profanity in order to make a point, be considered bombastic?
    A --- Yes.

You implied my communications had taken the form of adiatribe.
You provided a definition of that word as being “a bitter and abusive speech or piece of writing.

I think where bitterness and abusive speech are concerned perhaps you should be looking much closer to home.

At the beginning of all of this, I did read your posts, but after a time, I studied them.
I accept you are resident in the US, so the British characterwith whom, after studying your posts, I found myself driven to compare you to, maybe unknown to you.

The character in question appeared in the “Just William”series of books, the author of which was Richmael Crompton, and is known as Violet Elizabeth Bott.
Her undoubted claim to fame was the incessant stamping of her feet, and the uttering of (quote) " I`ll sthcweam and sthcweam till I'm thsick. And I can too!”, on the occasions when she was being denied her(self assumed) position of great importance and/or control.

For the record, as I noted earlier there was a tick against your name as having solved the problem, that is definitely not so.
I consider the answer(s) and guidance provided byPaul1149 to be the solution.

Discourses should be positive, and never classed as time-wasting or unnecessary evils.
I consider our discourse to have been illuminating, to say the least. However, they have also become far too time consuming and, realistically, they no longer have a place within this forum, my question having been answered.

I have little doubt it will be your fervent wish to have the “last word” in this matter, but I say here and now that I will not respond.

Hyperlinks in Word can point to headings, bookmarks, or anything else within the same document or other documents. Online/offline need not have anything to do with it.

    Hi Paul,

Just thought I would "stop off" and thank you for your help on this topic.

I have now completed the document on which I was working, and am now classing it as "automated", thanks to the Hyperlinks, as you suggested.

Hope I can be of help to you someday,

    Best regards,

You really don't realize how you keep reinforcing everything I've said about you, do you? How sad.
