Printing over wireless network fail - word 2007

I am sorry if this sounds like a duplicate post, but I am wondering if my issue sounds the same as others having prinitng difficulties

Have my XP desktop and Win7 laptop networked. All is pretty good for most part

But last night, my printer, which is USB hooked up to my desktop will not print Word 2007 documents that reside on the networked laptop. It will print pdf and excel and powerpoint, etc but not word documents. I have tried deleting and re-adding the printer. It even prints a test page. I think this has to do with Word 2007. It did work a few days ago but is not working now.

My desktop prints Word 2007 and my desktop will print Word 2007 docs from my laptop via the network. It’s just when I send a word doc from laptop that it seems to be forever “spooling” or “printing” but does nothing.

    Ever heard of this?

My fix at this time is to save the word docs over the network to a shared folder that my desktop can access and thus I can print the documents

I had a similar problem - but the other way around (IE XP networked machines couldn't print with my POrinter attached to W7Desktop)
My solution was at the bottom of this page
Sharing a printer on W7 Desktop with XP Laptop

I believe you will need to do similar and load your printer (driver) on both machines
I assume you can print from your XP desktop?
When you install on your W7 laptop - just select any port, for now to start with and finish the setup.

Next go it no printer properties (Control panel, printers, .......) (on your W7 Laptop)
    Select new port.
    Now to name it.
type in this sort of address (lets call your computer MyPC, and lets say you have a Canon Pixma printer iP4000 - you need to know the Network name of you XP machine)
So type '\\MyPC\Canon Inkjet PIXMA iP4000' notice it has to be very exact, one small error and this won't work
~ check on your network on your PC to see exactly how the printer is named.
Don't forget to click on apply and Ok etc etc Make sure the tick box is now ticked as your default printer.
You may be required to reboot - I didn't have to on my setup
    Hope this works for you
