    2013 Outlook Archive Problem

I need to archive past emails in order to free up new email messages coming in. I have followed the steps to archive all emails past Sept 10 ,2013 three times but it doesn't show up in the"Archive" function and the number of total active emails doesn't get reduced.

No matter how much I archive ,I only see a .pst of 256K listed and nothing in the "Archive" function.

Any ideas of what is happening or not happening would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

How did you set up your Archive. You should be able to get Outlook to archive automatically after a certain number of days.
To do that open Outlook 2013, select File, then Options, then Advanced, then select Auto Archive Settings.

This will open a small Window that allows you to set the number of days before emails are archived, where they will be stored or you can delete them. This part should be self explanatory & you can select options that you want.

    Outlook 2013 Archive problem

    Ranger 4,

I did all that (followed the instructions) ,but choose the Archive option with specific dates and not the AutoArchive option, but got the results I mentioned in my first post here.Could there be some other settings in my Outlook 2013 that prevent archiving ?

Is your computer a private one or are you connected to an exchange server in a business. I saw this tip that might be the cause of your problem.

TIP Archive and AutoArchive might not be available if your mail profile connects to an Exchange Server. It's also possible that your organization has a mail retention policy that overrides AutoArchive. Check with your system administrator for more information.

This led me to thinking that if your computer is a private one that your IP might have a similar policy. it might be worth checking with them.
