Can't pin a shortcut to a specific Excel file to the Taskbar

For several years I've had a shortcut to a specific Excel file pinned to the Windows 7 Taskbar. When I clicked it, it caused Excel to open the file as desired. Somehow the shortcut disappeared from the Taskbar, and I'm now trying to recreate it. I can create a shortcut on the Desktop with the icon that I want that does what I want (i.e., double-clicking causes Excel to open the file).

However when I drag that shortcut to the Taskbar the icon changes to an Excel icon, and clicking the icon causes Excel to open a blank workbook. Right-clicking the Excel icon does open a menu with the subject file listed, but that's not what I want.

As I say, I had it working as desired for several years, so I know what I want can be done, but I can't figure out how I originally did it. Can anyone help?

Create a new shortcut with a target similar to
    Code:
    explorer "C:\Users\Me\Documents\myspreadsheet.xlsx"
Pin the new shortcut file to the taskbar.
