    Adobe Reader & MS Word

    Hi,

I use Adobe Reader 9.0 to view pdf. files. It just happened when I searched for a file (through the search window) and for some reason, my (pdf.) file opened with MS Word. Ever since I switched it back, the icon has just been like this:

    Adobe Reader & MS Word-capture.jpg

I know its not really a problem, but it does look nice if I can have the icon!

Also, the icon for MS Word is the same defult one...(like in screen shot) - just happened at the same time...

Can anyone decode and answer to my problem (for anyone who just took that literly, its not that easy - theres nothing to decode!!)

    Cheers,
    Jake

    Hi jake,

If you right click on the icon and then right click on the popup entry for adobe reader you should have a properties entry

Click this and chose change icon - navigate to the reader .exe file and select the icon you need

OK it looks like it's one of the specials that MS and some others use

Best way is to navigate to the .EXE file in explorer C:\windows\program files(x86)\adobe .... If I recall.

Once you have found the .EXE right click and create shortcut - say OK to create on Desktop

Assuming shortcut looks correct pin this to the taskbar

In a explorer view a file looks like this:Adobe Reader & MS Word-capture3.jpg. Am updating Office to 2010 so cannot say about Word etc.

Your icons are most likely missing because they were stored in:

    C:\Windows\Installer\{GUID}

If a software deletes these folders icons will be missing.

    See my posts in: https://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/51078-microsoft-icons.html#post474320

I added a ZIP file with the Icons for Office 2007 in the above Thread.
