Outlook seems to be using info from another drive

I have a problem on an HDD used as my storage disk.
I unplugged it until an SSD arrives.
On trying to open Outlook on my main (C) drive, I get an error message pointing to missing files from the storage drive (G).
Plugged the G disk back in, and Outlook works fine.
Question - why is Outlook on C using files from G ?

What version of Outlook are you using. Outlook stores it's .pst files & others usually in a folder called Outlook Files, however this may vary.

Have you G drive connected & close Outlook. Then open Control Panel & click on the Mail applet, when that opens click on Data Files & when that opens click on Open File Location. This will show you where the Outlook Data files are. You can the copy that folder on your G drive & paste it to the same location on your C drive.

Use the copy & paste method, as this will retain the original if something goes wrong.

Now disconnect your G Drive & open Outlook again & see if it works properly, if not you may have to point it to the new Outlook folder location. Do that via the Control Panel method mentioned above.

If you are now happy with everything you can delete the Outlook folder on your G drive, to avoid confusion at a later stage.

    Great reply Ranger4. It's Outlook 2010.
Will go through all that with fingers crossed.
    Will report back.

    To RANGER4

Finally succeeded, but what a battle.
Round and round in circles for hours.
Outlook couldn't find the file even when directed to it, I couldn't delete most of the choices that were there, I couldn't change the default, and so on and so on.
However I got there in the end, don't know that I did anything different, but hey, it's working with G unplugged.

    Thanks for the info

Thanks for getting back & glad to hear it's all working now. Sorry to hear you had a battle to get there though.
