Unable to re-add my email account to outlook

I inadvertently deleted my email account from outlook, and now I am unable to re-add it. I actually have both outlook 2010 and 2016 installed, but up until I deleted my email I was able to use both. Now I can't use either of them under my main email address.
I have a pop3 account with stml, from comcast. I have tried numerous times to re-add it, both in the regular way and manually to no avail. I get the error message that my requested process failed. My account is still in the pst. data section, as well as on my computer.

    Help,
    Tina

Only one version of Outlook will work on your computer. This always opts for the latest version, so you need to uninstall Outlook 2010 & only use Outlook 2016.

Your .pst files should work, but you may need to point Outlook 2016 where to find those files & this can be done through Files in Outlook & then through Account settings.

Unless you have a specific need to have 2 versions of Office on your computer, you might consider uninstalling office 2010 & only using Office 2016. Only having one version works best & has less problems.

My data files are fine. When I go into file, account settings, the first page that comes up is emails. My regular email is no longer there, but it is in data files. But with my email not being in the emails section, I am not receiving any emails.

Have you uninstalled Outlook 2010?. When you go into File & then Account Settings & that opens Email Accounts, you probably have to set up a new email account. To do that select New & follow through filling in the requested details. As you are using a POP3 type account, you might need to contact your email provider for assistance. When you get to the end of setting up a new account, there is a means of testing whether the account works, so be sure to run that.

If you use all the same details when setting up the new account, that you previously had with Outlook 2010, then you should be able to transfer .pst data to Outlook 2016 after you have finished setting up the new account.

If you need more help feel free to get back again.

Thank you for your help Ranger4, but after an hour and a half of chatting and giving permission for a Microsoft tech to access my computer, it's finally fixed.

Thanks Tina for getting back. Glad to hear it's all fixed. Yes, setting up email accounts can sometimes be difficult & I have had to get help in some cases as well.
