    Hi:

For starters, it would help to know: What version of Word (2010, 2013, 2016)?

Here is one way to do it for Word 2007 or 2010 (it also works for me just now in Word 2016 on Win10, but it should also work on Win7) -- the items need to be either bulleted or numbered, I think:

Here is how to sort Table contents:

    Hi MoxieMomma,

I bought my computer used several years ago and Word was already on the computer. So I don't really know which version of Word that I have, but I suspect it is an older version. But I was able to alpha sort my list. Thanks for the great info!

If you open the Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, it ought to list the version of MS Office.

(As an aside, it's important to make sure you have Windows Update configured to update MS Office installed on the computer. Running even current versions (but especially older versions) without security patches can make your system more vulnerable to malware. If you are running a much older version that no longer receives security updates from MS, then you might want to consider replacing it with a more secure, up-to-date version (this will cost $) or with a free, open-source alternative.)

But I was able to alpha sort my list. Thanks for the great info!
    Excellent!
I'm glad you were able to resolve your issue.
Thanks for taking the time to let us know.

Also check out Winsorter. Works with any application that allows copy/ paste text.

Select text then choose action to perform. I've been using it for years.

EDIT: Sort multiple lines correctly depends upon punctuation (Full stops at end of lines)
