Yeah I'll try that cleaner and that un-installer, and thank you very much for all of your help.

For me it usually completed in about 45 seconds. Try rebooting and running it again as admin.
i tried restarting and running it again. i am the admin on my computer so thats not a problem. it seems to be working but its taking a very long time.
Well, I would recommend just letting it run...hopefully it will complete.

    Just had an idea.

Try using this program from Microsoft. If it detects any files left over from the previous install tries, delete them and then try installing Office again.

I uninstalled Office and used that Microsoft Installer thing, and it doesn't say anything about Office, then I tried reinstalling it again and I still got the same error.

Has anyone tried installing under Windows XP Mode? I didn't want to rip out my Office XP installation on my W7 64 bit installation as I hated Office 7 and just wanted to look at 2010. I thought I could install it on my XP Mode virtual machine. The installer started to extract files, and about time it finished, the window would go away, and then, a few seconds later, the process would just vanish. No errors, no anything. I watched with Task Manager running, and just seconds after the Extracting Files window goes away, the whole process just vanishes.

Any thoughts? It is supposed to work on XP.
