Need Office 2010 starter-from laptop to desktop help

When my desktop recently had win7 reinstalled, the program above did not make it back onto my system. I know it came with the original purchase of the desktop and the OS as it is on my laptop which I purchased around the same time. I am trying to copy the "guts" of the starter from my laptop to my desktop with a jump drive. I only want the excel piece. I found it in the "program data" file on my laptop. I copied the whole folder which included 4 files one of which was "Excel MUI" and is described as a windows installer package. Thinking this would install the excel program it did not! I receive the following msg: "error 1713 cannot install one of the required products". Can someone help me get this program copied from my laptop to my desktop. This is a legal process as it was on both of my systems until I lost my drive on the desktop. Thanks very much

Unfortunately that wont work. You would have to reinstall Office Starter 2010 from the original DVD. However, Office 2010 is no longer available. This is one of the pitfalls of reinstalling Windows as reinstalling wipes all previous installations.

I think you will have to look at either Office 365 or Office 2016. Your files should still work with these versions once you get them copied back to you main operating system hard drive.

Have a look at a Microsoft website in your area to get an idea of what Office options that are available, or you could consult a reliable computer shop in your area to see how they compare in prices.

Have you looked on ebay for a set of GENUINE installation DVD's?

or https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/soft...ownload/office assuming you have your product key

You could also try one of the free options ... Even the most basic Microsoft Office options can work out expensive.

The starter edition was only distributed with new PCs so a similar version is not available from Microsoft - it may be in the original documentation and disks that came with your system

Try the various options for your purpose as although they all claim full compatibility with the Microsoft original the are some functionality differences and also minor layout differences from the original

there are also online options if you only use office occasionally

    Office Online

    Google G Suite

Thanks to all. I have installed Excel Viewer on my desktop. I still have Starter 2010 on my laptop where I can do the edits and then just open in Excel viewer to print. I just found out about EV so that really solves my problem. And yes, I do have the COA product key on my desktop for other solutions as offered. Thanks again.
