Using Office 2003, do I need 2007 updates?

I'm running Office 2003 (thanks GEWB) and keep getting notifications for Office 2007 updates. I'll have to use a compatibility pack for newer programs, but do I really need all the updates?

When MS release a new product like they did with Office 2007, they incorporate a lot of the previous version's engine, but in the course of doing this they find that some of the new improvements are compatible with the previous version, so they provide those for the earlier versions updates.

Generally I would advise you to install them, as they sometimes contain fixes for the older version, but it is up to you.

Ah! I wasn't aware of that. Thank you. That puts a whole other light on it. I never could figure out why they kept telling me about updates for a product I don't have.

I use Office 2003 and I've always installed the Windows updates for Office 2007 even though it 2003.

I've recently had a problem so I've uninstalled the last ones.

Can't open file because its already running 2003 Access
