Open Control Panel, click on Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2013), when that opens click on Data Files & then check the settings. Also Open the file location to check that Outlook is looking for them in the right place.

If Outlook 2013 is part of Office 2013, you could try an Office Repair. To do that open Programs & Features in Control Panel, scroll down to Microsoft Office 2013, Right Click on it & select Change which will open a couple of Repair options to try.

Is your Office 2013 up to date?.

Thanks you for your reply..yes it is up to date and I have done the basic stuff making sure Outlook finds the data file..OST (imap) This error is well documented but i have seen no solution as yet.. I was wondering if removing Office 2013 and re-installing would work..but I am not confident that I can get rid of the 2103 files for a clean install. I have been on hours with this thing DO you think it is unique to my actual machine as I also have the same email working on another system TIA

I also use Outlook 2013, part of my Office 2013 & I have not had any of the problems you are experiencing. Have you contacted your email service provider to check that all your settings are correct to be able access the email website. Sometimes encryption is required by some providers & this requires setting the correct numbers where required.

Have a look at these MS websites as they might help you.
