Glad to hear all seems to working properly now. From what you have said it looks like Activation was the cause & running the Repair has fixed it.

thanks for the help!
if you had not had me opening different parts of the software I would never have seen that...
and amazingly... it worked
drama over ;-)
today my computer won't recognize my iphone when I connect it with the USB (no wifi).... 1/2 hour looking at that and I think I am done for the day.... and my new "My Book" ext hard drive won't let me run an image with Acronis on it.....
they will have to wait.... LOL I'm making a one computer crisis problem per week-end rule
You are welcome & glad I could help.
I really can't offer much help on the iphone problem as I don't have one.
What is the problem with the external hard drive?. Are you trying to make an image or copy one back to the computer.
finally worked out the problem with the iPhone... an old preamble so lots of right and wrong "solutions"
the correct one turned out to be the easiest ;-)
"my book"... I may be confused...
my other WD ext Drive, I can use to "image" back up with Acronis... and to store, copy files
the new... "My Book" desktop storage... offered different software (?) to install...
I have not yet read the 46 page manual....
When I tried to start an Acronis "back up" it showed a message that seemed to suggest it would not work... have not researched that yet.... not sure what it means.... but not, "great, proceed"
the second pic is the folder... with two editions, "Acronis" and "hairclip" were my additions... hairclip to check I could copy to the drive... worked...
I wanted to use it both as a double back up to my other ext drive, aging... and to move some files to... I'm running out of hard drive...
I may be wrong, but it seems that back up has been saved as GPT system & not an MBR system. Are using UEFI on your main Windows 7 operating system disc or the usual MBR. GPT means GUID Partition Table & MBR means Master Boot Record.
Could you supply a screen shot of Disc Management with the back drives connected & please include all the info that is shown. This tutorial will show what's needed.
Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image - Windows 7 Help Forums
If you are using the MBR system & you used the back up that is shown in your screen shot in Post #14 to restore your system then the boot media will not work.
You mention running out of disc space. How big is your current Windows 7 OS disc?. The best solution is to install a bigger drive if you can, rather than fiddling around trying to carve off files to another drive if the drive is too small.
Hmmm.. I never thought of installing a larger disc.... at one point I looked into installing more RAM and was told I could not... so...
though I did want a larger back up.... easier for now than than sorting through old files...
looked up the terms (.. so at least I know what it is I don't understand ;-) once I have some general idea... it changes
great instructions for Disk Management capture... thanks!
Yes your HDD is getting full. Windows needs at least 10% free space to work properly, so you are getting close to that.
Do you have a lot of programs on the HDD that you rarely or never use, if so you could uninstall them or transfer them to another drive.
I use Macrium Reflect to do my back up images & I have never had a problem with it.
If you want to see what is taking up the HDD space, download Tree Size Free, from this website & install it.

thank you... will look at that...
I do art and crafting... I have tons of pictures and many images to be sorted and edited... some day
realized I never did go back and mark this as solved,
thank you again Ranger4
how to mark as solved? not shown as an option...
You are welcome & glad I could offer some help. Thanks for getting back with the update. You seem to have found the Solved button.
