Office 2016 loses activation on every restart

I am having an issue with an Office 2016 I got from the college where every time I restart my laptop, the office is no longer activated "loses activation" I can enter the product key in again and it always successfully activates, but I am doing this every time I restart my laptop.

I Googled the problem but only results for people having this problem with Office 2013! Not 2016! There is nothing regarding this problem using Office 2016! And from the looks of it, nobody has a solution for the office 2013 problem, and even if they did, no guarantee it will work for office 2016.

This is a Lenovo b570 if that is any helpful information on helping me fix this

Does anybody know what the problem could be?

Colleges & schools that use Microsoft software usually have an Enterprise License from Microsoft specifically for multiple installations.

With Microsoft Office, the version is Office Professional Plus 2016 & it requires an enterprise license, which is what your college had when you received your copy of Office from them. That license is usually only valid while you are associated with that college. Once you leave the license ceases & this is very likely why you are getting this activation notice

If you have no further association with the provider of your Office installation then it's possible your Office installation is invalid. That could explain the updating failure & it not working properly now.

If you are still associated with the college contact their IT section & get this sorted out. If you are no longer associated, contact the college & ask them about what conditions & entitlements are applicable in your current circumstances.

Just for your information, the problems associated with Office Professional Plus 2013 & the licensing arrangements are the same as Office pro Plus 2016, as far as I know.

Would it help if you reinstall the MS office? I don't know if your activation code is still accepted if you reinstall though, will have to check that with Microsoft service center.
