How to move location of .pst file in Office Outlook 2010

Andrew, As I'm on UK time and You're on Australian Time this fix may take a little more time than usual to do, but I'm not intending to give up now. What I intend to do is gather some links together to our Tutorials explaining things how they work and how to change things, (this is partly to save me repeating the work to write them but mainly due to the fact that Our tutorial writers do a much better job of explaining things than I do )

I will also try to put together a basic explanation of some of the concepts involved, As the setup you have does seem to be non standard so we are probably better off getting things back to what Windows expects to find, folder structure wise, and we can then work around this to set up things the way you need.

With the potential failure of your H drive a possibility I would suggest that you copy as much of the data that you want to keep to an area on other Drives for safety. And I will try to put the instructions together quickly for you

The issue with the failure to create a new folder this should be a simple matter of reversing what you did do using the instructions I intend to get together

It should be possible to use the Location Tab on the My Music, My Pictures and My Videos folders on H: to make the move directly to new empty folders on the I: drive but the route via the original C: locations will work also.

The trick is to always create empty new folders named appropriately as destination folders for the move operations before you start the move, and to also agree to move the contents of the folder being moved, only move one folder at a time and check it's working before you delete the old folder.

The way that your other applications will find their files, (photoshop Etc), is that they do not do not look the folder names but the coded ID for the folder so they will find MY Documents\photoshop\files wherever the MY Documents special folder is located. This applies to all the special folders, Eg I have My "My Music" folder on it's own Hard drive (M:) so use of the special folders allows you control but also allows the system and 3rd party programs to find them

Glad to see you get a working system again - Barman, Barman58 or Nigel are acceptable names, ( I've been called a lot worse over the years ).

Technically the "public" Folders should be under their own Public area as in C:\Users\Public\... but unless you do a lot of sharing with guests on a Home Local Network they are never really used so I would not worry
