How to edit OCR scanned Word doc?

Hi, I converted a book using OCR to MS word, for an ease to carry around.
All looks fine, readable but if I make changes like changing the font size, type etc., becomes distorted.
Any suggestions how or if it can be done?
    Thanks.

Once converted to word it's a word doc so you can do anything to it as per normal word file

Not sure what the problem is apart from blank page if you press cntrl and A does anything show on the blank bits?

No it doesn't show any blank bits, on both the documents.

If, I copy the the whole 500 pages on a new Word document, I lose the images, tables etc.

    Edit:

The scanned documents page width wouldn't change either....

It depends on the sophistication and scan settings of your OCR software, some software will simply add hard line breaks at the end of each line rather than the way that Word itself works where you only need to insert one hard line break at the end of each paragraph, and word formats the paragraph.

If you have hard line breaks in your converted document then changing anything will "break" the format

to check if you have this issue you can set word to show codes, the command varies between versions but it normally a Paragraph symbol which is a kind of fancy reversed P -

One option may be to scan to PDF rather than Word if you can find a suitable OCR software, as the PDF is a better less variable format

That does look to me like a number of empty paragraph. It may be possible to show hard returns too, I will have to check in the morning

What OCR program are you using?

Hard return is paragraph mark symbol, displays when you click the paragraph symbol on the Home Tab

Soft return is manual line break. Shift + Enter, and displays with the paragraph symbol enabled.

Manual page break CTRL + Enter, displays with paragraph symbol enabled.
