Microsoft Office 2010 Key No Longer Works On Cean Install

I have an HP Elitebook 8460p Windows 7 Pro 64 bit laptop that I am in the process of dong a clean install on.
When I first installed Microsoft Office 2010 the key I had been using was recognized with no problem.
Several days later when I tried to use it, the key was said to be invalid.
It is the same computer and drive that this key was on before .
Can someone tell me what could have happened and what might be done to resolve this?

Have you Updated Windows 7, installing all the latest updates, before trying to install Office?.

Make sure you are typing in the exact activation code, it's easy to misread or mistype it, so double check the code.

What version of Office 2010 is it?. There are a number of versions & some are for specific users. Where did you get Office from & is it definitely a retail copy.

This MS website may help you with this.

In response to questions from Ranger 4, yes, I did update Window before trying to install Microsoft 2010.
The version is for Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and it was purchased from a retail vendor.

I tried typing in the key numerous times and feel confident the correct characters were put in.
    What should I do next?
    Thanks,

Have you tried calling Microsoft about it? They may be able to activate it for you.

Lady F, the OP has ticked the thread as solved, so unless they get back we will be none the wiser.
