office 2013 - skype 2015 for business crashes

Windows 7 laptop , either MS patches that were pushed broke skype /dll or not sure either way these errors occur when launching skype it crashes. the only thing that the user has done recently was use go to meeting via IE 11.

Faulting application name: lync.exe, version: 15.0.5031.1000, time stamp: 0x5accc822

Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.24150, time stamp: 0x5b0cb980

    Exception code: 0xc0000005

    Fault offset: 0x0002e023

    Faulting process id: 0xe00

    Faulting application start time: 0x01d4246ada949245

    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\lync.exe

    Faulting module path: C:\windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll

    Report Id: 1c0591ea-905e-11e8-af28-34e6d7440115

what would cause this to occur

there is also a side by side error as well - what is side by side?

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\lync.exe.Manifest".Error in manifest or policy file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\UccApi.DLL" on line 1. Component identity found in manifest does not match the identity of the component requested. Reference is UccApi,processorArchitecture="AMD64",type="win32",version="15.0.0.0". Definition is UccApi,processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32",version="15.0.0.0". Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis

this is has occured with a few users with skype

is there a hot fix for this ?
