Why doesd MS recommend 32bit Office for 64bit OS

The download site recommends that you download the 32bit version even if you are running Win7 64bit. Does anyone know why?

Because there is no 64 bit version of Office yet. Supposedly Office 2010 will come in both.

I should have specified that I was referring to the beta version of Office 2010 that does come in a 64bit version.

I guess I wonder that if the 64bit OS is compatible, why the 64bit office would not also be compatible.

Since its a business app. i imagine they just don't want to recommend a beta.

It must be compatibility. I downloaded the 64bit version of Office 2010, installed it but then tried to install Visio 2010. It won't install with 64bit Office installed. I would imagine it's a lot more than just Visio.
