Outlook - auto complete email addresses to new computer

Is there anyone out there that can help me?

I've recently got a new laptop - it has windows 7.

I need to transfer my email contacts from my old computer to the new laptop - I use it for business and I have hundreds of email addresses that have always auto-completed (if you get what I mean).

Outlook on the new laptop doesn't auto complete the email addresses.

I've done a google search for help and I've found this link (VERY USEFUL!)
How to transfer Outlook auto-complete addresses to a new computer – Simple Help

BUT it doesn't work - the files on windows 7 are different to I can't complete the last stage.

Anyone out there that can help?

    PRETTY PLEASE???

    Thanks
    Tanya

Are you sure your doing it correct ? I've just tried it from my Vista lappy and copied it on to my Win7 rig (different user accounts) and it worked fine.

Make sure you copy it from

    C:\Documents and Settings\oldname\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

    to

    C:\Documents and Settings\newname\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

substitute red text with the correct names

    It just doesn't work.
The NK2 file is in the correct folder.
I've made sure that outlook is set to auto complete - and still nothing!
    Argh!

    Sorted it

    Phew.

There were two NK2 files - just renamed one of them and job done.

Easy way to get AutoComplete to work in Outlook 2010:
    1. Create new Email Message
    2. Add ALL your contacts in the To: box
    3. Close and discard the new Email Message.

    Test:
    1. Create new EMail Message
    2. Type any letter of known email addresses in your Contacts list...see, told you so!.

Easy way to get insulted within 24 hours as a new member on a message board: dig up a thread from 8 months ago where the OP has already said his issue is resolved.

I'm not trying to insult here, but this thread is OLD, had cobwebs and dust on it and someone had to pipe up and give a relatively impractical solution to a problem that is resolved.

BTW, the NK2 file has to be named the same as your CURRENT email profile that will need to use it, which is what sounds like the problem was when the OP says he renamed one file and it was working again.
