    cannot install office 2010 x86

    Hi
After much effort finally uninstalled Office Ultimate 2007 from win 7 x64.
I have been attempting to install RTM Office Pro plus 2010 x86. Everything appears
to install until the end of the scroll installation bar, for some reason my floppy drive is accessed (grunt grunt) and Office installer informs me that a Office Pro plus 2010 encountered a problem during set up and naturally pushing close button confirms the Office has not been installed.
I have tried various compatibility modes as Administrator but no go.
    Any advice/assistance would be appreciated.

    TIA

Disable your A:\> from the bios and run the setup again.

    Have already tried :
    1. Floppy drive disabled in bios.
    2. Floppy drive controller disabled in device manager.
    3. Re-download Office 2010 x86.
    4. Disabled both Panda Cloud Antivirus and Prevx.
    5. Various compatibility modes.

Still the program fails on installation.

Without knowing the exact error, it's difficult to determine what is causing the installation to fail at the end. I had a similar-ish problem with installing 2007 on Vista once. (it sounds like a particular module is getting tripped up for whatever reason which halts the entire installation)

You could always try using this:Windows Installer Clean Up to clean up any remaining 2007 features etc.

Not a guarantee, but it's worth a shot.

Another thing to try would be to install Office module by module (PITA, but it could help eliminate the rouge component)

Thanks for your reply. I have installed another version of office 2007. As previously
everything with install goes ok until it says I do not have enough privledges to access crogram data/microsoft/windows/start folder.
I take ownership of that folder and installation continues.
Problem is in start/all programs microsoft office folder contains only word and folder microsoft office tools which is empty.

All office components work when accessed from program files(x86).
When i attempt to install office 2010 either using update of if office 2007 uninstalled that fails. I have been at this your about 18 hours and have had a myriad of error messages - 1635, 1303 1602 a few that come to mind.

Anyone have any further assistance. Would be greatly appreciated.
