    Office continually reconfiguring itself

I just installed the RTM version of Office 2010 from Technet however now when I try to lasunch a program like word or excel office wants to configure itself every time. I have uninstalled and re-installed it several time but no luck. I am lofgged in as adminstrator and running Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 .. any help would be greatly appreciated as it is a real pain to have to wait for it to reconfigure when I want to use word opr excel and even outlook .. for some strange reason powerpoint seems ok ???

Try right clicking on the program shortcut and running it as admin for the first time you run it.

    Try this:

    1. Open registry editor.
    2. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
    3. Expand SOFTWARE.
    4. Expand MICROSOFT.
    5. Expand OFFICE.
    6. Expand 12.0 (14.0 for Office 2010, i think?)
    7. Expand WORD.
    8. You will find a key/folder called "options"
    9. Right click the options folder and point to new and select "DWORD VALUE"
    10. On the right hand side, type "norereg" and press enter.
    11. Double click "norereg" and change the value data to "1" and click ok or
    enter.

If that works repeat for other office apps which have the same problem.

I uninstalled the whole thing again and cleaned up install with microsoft clean up utility now it just will not re-install and tells me it does not have permission to open up certain registry entries which I went looking for and tried to alter the permissions but when I do it says it cannot save the altered permissions and keeps me locked out. I cannot even delete the registry entries that are locking me out. I have tried booting up in different modes all to no effect this is driving me crazy all I did was uninstall the beta version and try installing the RTM .. there is nothing about this issue on Microsofft anywhere .. all suggestions greatly appreciated as I do not want to have to do yet another total install .. have tried restore points but the do not fix the problem either which is strange.

    Hi All

In frustration I gave up and reinstalled Windows 7. I have slowly been putting everything back on and Office 2010 now installs properly !!!!

Sucks that you had to reinstall 7 to get it to work. I had the same thing happen with Office 2007, and had to do a reinstall to get it to work as well.

Hopefully someone can come up with a resolution that doesn't involve having to reinstall Windows.

Hi, had the same problem yesterday with 2007.!!

My solution was to look in DTaskmanager for any apps. monitoring actions.

Culprit was TuneUp Utils. (could any other similar app.)

    Killed that and, Viola!

Ya know, come to think of it, I believe I ended up tracing my problem back to CCCleaner and cleaning the registry. By the time I figured it out though, I was pretty much left with no option but to reinstall Windows.
