Technet Office 2010 - No Activation required yet ??

    Hi all
I've downloaded the versions available on Technet

I've also installed on 3 Different computers

No activation has been requested yet -- and I've installed all with the SAME KEY.

I see that new keys will be avilable after 30 Apr.

Maybe if you download from TECHNET at the moment you get the "Multiple Corporate copies" version.

    Cheers

    Hello Jimbo,

Office normally allows you to install and activate on up to 3 computers with the same key number.

Do you mean that after installation, when you fire up one of the apps for the first time, it doesn't pop up the "activation required" screen like Office 2007 does?

I've downloaded Office 2010, but not installed it yet myself...

    Hi there
    Yes

I UNCLICKED activate automatically and I never got the activate message after install.

I deliberately installed on a W2K3 Virtual machine first as I wanted to test all the functionality -- at the time I had NO connection to the Internet.

No problem at all - same with VISIO and PROJECT 2010. If you are a technet subscriber download the current offering from TECHNET as I'm sure the later versions WILL require activation.

    Cheers

It will make you activate it eventually.

It does seem likely that it may allow you a 15 or 30 day "trial" before requiring activation much like Windows. Though surprising that it doesn't nag you about it lilke Windows does
