    Outlook 2007 and Gmail

I finally got around to setting up a mail account (G-mail) in Outlook 2007, I just clicked the automatic setup and let Outlook do all the work. It seemed to set up and work OK, but it only grabbed my currently unread mail, about 5 or 6 items.

I would like to have about 3 months worth of my g-mail accessible in Outlook but I can't seem to make it happen...I tried placing the the mail I wanted back into the G-mail inbox and marking it "unread", but Outlook still doesn't see it.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks as

Did it set up GMail as a POP account or as an IMAP account?

If it set up as a POP< there is part of the problem. If it set it up as an IMAP, then you'll need to dig into your settings and see why it is not showing everything in your GMail account. You may also need to adjust your settings in your GMail account itself in order for it to do the mail correctly.

For example, last year I converted my default GMail account which I checked using POP through Thunderbird into a true online account, complete with folder *online*, rules / filtering *online* and mail *online* which I now check through Thunderbird, my Motorola DROID, and anywhere else through a web browser *online*. There was a specific routine I had to go through to set every thing up, and most of it you will not need (at least not now if you don't do server side filtering and use server-side 'folders'), but the setting up of IMAP settings in your account settings online is probably what will fix this particular issue you're having.

Post back and let me know if you need more help, I'll try to dig up the links I used (straight from Google, so you know they're not bogus) and post them back here.

It appears to have set itself up as a POP account, I'll try to puzzle out how to change that and see if that helps...good chance I'll be back for a bit of guidance...thanks

Lol - not actually, if you think abut it. I look at it as not wanting *more* email - just wanting more *access* to my current email.

Glad you got it running. If at a future time you decide you want to start using server side filtering and such, let me know - I keep having to go back every few months and add new subscriptions to new folders that I make, and I've figured out the easiest process to do it so that all works the way I want it to....
