problem configuring POP3 for Outlook on orange.fr

Hi, this looks very useful - but do you, or does anyone, know about the ROW ?

Based in France, | have set up Outlook on several machines (tho' personally I use Thunderbird, which now installs and configures like a dream).

This time, setting up Outlook in the diabolical Office 2010, I have set up one account as IMAP on orange.fr (the largest supplier in France, part of France Telecom); but when I came to set up a second a/c as POP, Outlook refused to find the server - even though we have other Outlooks using POP on orange.fr
(I tried both POP and POP3, though the former is the one Orange recommend)

(Machine is a new Sony Vaio with 17-640M @ 2.8GHz, 4Gb 1066MHz DRAM, 192Gb SSD ultra-SATA, runninig Windows 7 Ultimate installed by manufacturer, as was Office 2010)

Grateful for any help - thanks, Andrew

A correction to your list. Frontiernet, now frontier.com, mail servers are now pop3.frontier.com and smtp.frontier.com

@ RobCr. Your specs show you are using Windows XP, but you have not mentioned what version of Outlook you are using. This website shows how to set up a GMail account in Outlook 2000 to 2010, so hopefully that will solve your problem.

I use XP for all my day to day stuff (and do not use Outlook).
I helped a friend upgrade from W7 to W10, and he recently asked if I could get his gmail working on Outlook (2010)
I am 74 so my memory is rs.
I managed to setup gmail for someone some time ago (Outlook 2010), and I remoted in to see what settings I had used. But for the life of me I could not find where to view those existing settings.
Thus the reason for my post here
    Thanks for the link.

    Much appreciated,
    Rob

Rob, this website might offer further info for you as far as settings etc. go for GMail.

Add Your Gmail Account to Outlook 2010 Using IMAP

I know all about the age problem as I am 75. Youth is so wasted on the young. Just imagine what we would at 20 if the ageing process was reversed.
