    ms office 2007 trial problem

hii ppl...i hav recently bought a laptop and wntd to activate the trial office 2007...wen i clicked it said "The ActiveX control determined that you need to update your Microsoft Office 2007 version with the latest patch". so i d/l the patch but wen i run the patch on halfway it gives e an error "the detection failed, this can be due to corrupted installation database". plz help

Also if i run the MS Office diagnostics it tells me "i do not have sufficient permission and access to microsoft win event log is required".

Note im the single owner and also i have patched som system files inorder to install the aero themes..

If this is indeed a new computer with a Trial Version, Office 2007, that you wish to activate - you would be well advised to contact Microsoft Office directly to seek their advice re your problem...

Please type in plain English and do not use texting short hand. Thanks. :)
