Not saying Irfanview isn't suitable, but I think some may agree that OpenOffice is to Microsoft Office as GIMP is to Photoshop...

Yes and that is why GIMP is FREE and Photoshop is not. You pay for advanced features.

Yes and that is why GIMP is FREE and Photoshop is not. You pay for advanced features.

If you reread the OP it sounds to me like his trials are over and he's looking for free alternatives of office production and photo editing programs. We are all aware of the benefits that come with Photoshop, but that seemed outside his request...

I wouldn't argue your point at all. I use GIMP. But for something quick, I use Irfanview - more straightforward and less complicated.

Just giving him the option of a freeware program that fits the bill for that end of the editing spectrum, being he didn't really specify a level of detail...

My qoute was directed towards openoffice not being as "feature-full" as MS office.
