Is there a way to change the file to an ordinary Pub file that I can print out with no hoops to jump through?

(BTW, my new computer is a Acer laptop and it is not compatible with my older Epson 820 printer. That is why I have to print out on my PC with XP on it.)

On XP when in Publisher, hit file->Save As.

At the bottom of the new Window it should ask you what you would like to save the file as in a drop down menu. Make sure it is set to .PUB and not .XPS.

I don't have a copy of Publisher or XP to verify this but I believe this is how it's done.

Now copy it over and print it.

What I failed to notice was in the first window, the Print window. In "Name" there were two choices in the drop down box:
-Microsoft XPS Document Writer
-Epson Stylus Photo 820 Series (my printer)

The MS XPS was chosen by default, and of course the document would not print unless I installed the software that would allow my printer to work with XPS. (or selected my own printer...)

When I selected my printer, then of course everything printed up fine.
So all's well that ends well. If I had any of you scratching your heads all day, then I am sorry.

Anyway, that's the story. Thanks, seven guru, for your help!

No problem, that's what I'm here to do :).

As you are new to the forum I thought you might like to know how to mark threads as solved as well as the uses of some of the other buttons.

To the top right of this post you will see 3 icons. An orange (+), a set of scales and a red and white warning triangle.

The orange (+) or blue (-) denotes whether a user is on or offline (orange = on, blue = off).

The scales are used to give rep points; click this button if someone has helped you significantly or solved your queries (only give this to posts that you think really deserve it).

The red and white warning triangle is used to denote either an abusive post OR to mark a thread as solved (just put solved in the box that comes up and the admins or moderators will mark it solved).

I'll mark this thread as solved this time.
