Windows Outlook takes 2 min. to load

Hi ! I'm running Windows Office 7 on my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. When I bring up MS Outlook, it is taking anywhere from 1.5 to 2 minutes to start. The screen comes up and says "loading", but takes forever to bring up my emails. It used to be much faster. I'm wondering if a Windows Update download had anything to do with this. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Welcome to Seven Forums.

As a starting point, Have you tried all the usual stuff like defrag your drive(s), run Disk clean up and so on?

Also, if you have a lot of emails in your inbox you should move them to sub folders.

Once you have Outlook running also try compacting your PST file - How to compact PST and OST files to eliminate deleted item space in Outlook

Another thing you can try is to "repair" the PST file, in case it has become corrupted.. Repair Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost) - Outlook - Office.com

Yes an oversized PST file can make your Outlook slow, so for making it compact you can try some method like
    • Delete the unwanted emails
    • Make backup of old emails by archiving
    • Or Apply the compact feature provided by Outlook

Follow path to compact the data file: open Outlook >> go to the file in the menu bar >> select data file and management option and then Click on it >> A new tab open in front of you select data files tab >> go to the file you want to compact and double Click on it >> another pop up window open on your screen >> Click on compact Now button and then Ok. This process does not affect the data of your file it just remove the extra space from it.

    Thanks
