Problem with some downloaded movies

On some of the movies the video and sound are not in sync with each other.

I watch them on windows media player 12
on a windows 7 64 bit pc

is there a way of fixing this ?

Are they legitimate movies or pirate downloads? If Pirate that's all you can expect.

if the offset is the same for the length of the movie it is easier to fix than if the offset changes during the course of the movie. i use virtualdub for fixing this problem. under the audio menu is interleaving option, then you will see skew audio.
