I use Fast Video Converter Pro. I got it for free when they were offering a special, now it's like 24$ but it does convert everything quickly to any format. (music and DVD)

Holiday, Buy Fast DVD Ripper, Buy Fast Video Converter.

For free audio burning/converting software, you can try CDex

CDex | Open Source Digital Audio CD Extractor with more than 38,000,000 downloads

For free Video burning, try DVDFlick, it's freeware, a couple years old but does a good job of converting files to DVD for most formats, has lots of options (although limited Menu screens).

(NOTE: The program runs best when compatibility is set to XP Serv Pack 3)

DVD Flick

If you look around at this site you can find a plethora of free/pay items

Really, the codec pack plus WMP 12 is enough for most anything. In rare cases when a file won't play, I'll use VLC and in even rarer cases where even VLC won't take it, GOM. I recommend this because I prefer to have just one player for most my media and have a just in case player if something fails.

One word for Real Player - NO! If anything, install Real Alternative ... actually, after some research, it seems Real Alternative is gone. The only reason I would recommend installing Real Player is if you absolutely have to play some media that is in Real Media format, otherwise, avoid it.

So you are saying 7 codecs + GOM Player+VLC player+Real Alternative?

by the way here is the link for Real Alternative:
Free-Codecs.com :: Download Real Alternative 2.0.2 : Real Alternative will allow you to play RealMedia files without having to install RealPlayer/RealOne Player

Yeah, you must have found a mirror that I couldn't find. But yeah, 7 Codecs plus WMP 12 generally does it. Keep VLC and GOM around as just in case players and Real Alternative to play any Real Media files you encounter in WMP 12.

Yepperz, I have GOM player and I like it.

It not plays almost anything, but it has features like sound/picture capture and advanced functions for viewing.

If you try to play something on GOM & it doesn't have the codec, it goes out & looks for it.

After upgrading to windows 8 and giving it a real world test I have given up and bought a late 2012 I7 mac mini. I must admit for its size the power of this unit is amazing. Don't get me wrong, I still love windows 7. But Apple at least still respects users who want a real desktop experience. Much...

Work Values - Team players are DEAD now SWARM players are at the Top
Hi there In my experience Management have been wanting "Team Players" but I think today that concept is DEAD. The Idea of a "Swarm" seems much better -- you network with all sorts of people who you might know just a little bit but you know when to get along with them and trust them. - A lot...

How do I set my multimedia keys to work on other media players?
My laptop's multimedia keys (play/pause, stop, etc.) are the Fn+<arrow key>. I want to use those to control my "main" music player (Winamp in this case). I've already set them in its (Winamp's) settings (they're even in the hotkey list), but they don't work and the Play/Pause just opens Windows...

Video Converters, what's the best?
Hey all, I use WinAVI to convert my videos to DVD & other formats, but it causes Windows (Vista & 7) to revert to the Basic theme. I was wondering if there was anything better out there as I have a lot of Vids I'd like converting. Or, is there anything designed specifically for Windows 7 yet? ...
