Is WMP 12 reading hidden tag in my mp3 files?

    Hi guys,

I use mp3tag to add id3v1.1/id3v2.3/ape2 tags to my mp3 files. However, when I open these music files in wmp, it first displays the file names and then switches over to these incorrect tag names with the incorrect album art. I have tried deleting and then re-adding the tag data + album art using mp3tag, but it seems every time I open these songs in wmp it's either reading some sort of hidden tag data that I can get to or downloading new ones from the next. FYI, I have told wmp NOT to add additional info to my music files.

    What is going on?

Yes, in deed when you download MP3 files from the Internet, they do come with hidden tags like the artist, album and an album art that Windows Media Player 12 can see. I have seen this myself many times.

If you wanna edit or remove these tags, you right click the MP3 files individually, choose Properties and click at the Details tab and from there you can edit the tags manually and click OK.

Or if you are viewing the MP3 files on Windows Explorer, have the Details Pane shown and click an MP3 file and you can manually edit its tags from the Details Pane and just click Save. These would be the preferences that Windows Media Player 12 would show.
