Cant edit movie details?

i have a bunch of movies on an external hard drive that i have ripped to xvid and x264 over the years and they are showing up as VOB_1 as the titles in wmp under propitiates -> details it wont let me edit titles year and others like i could in xp any way to edit these in win 7?

If you have VLC media player, open the video and pause it, then go to Media Information; alternatively, you can use a keyboard shortcut of CTRL+I

When a new window opens, you will have a wide range of metadata which you can edit. When done, simply click on the Save Metadata button. And another note, please be patient while the tags are being written, this may take some time depending on the filesize of the clips. Try not to poke the program and crash it while it writes the metadata.
