print button in pictures library not working

when I press the print button( after highlighting a picture) , explorer opens C:\ Windows system 32. It seems to be searching for the path. On another desktop computer with Win 7 this same action opoens a new window with printer options. I have uninstalled/ re-installed the printer with no solution. If I right click the highlighted picture and select that print function all is OK. I believe something has corrupted the path for the print function in the Pictures folder. Please help.

Make sure the default printer is correct. You may want to uninstall and reinstall the printer if it is correct.

Thanks form the thought, but the default printer is OK and I have already uninstalled the software and drivers with no success. The printer works fine in all situations except the button in the pictures library. The instruction/path that tells windows how to start the printer ( with this partivular button) is , I believe , at fault.

    still more help please

Yep, that works fine guys. However I still think there is a problem as my other desktop machine also has win 7 and it prints directly from a highlighted picture from the pictures library. When you press the print button in the toolbar or select it from a right click , it's supposed to open a new window with the print selection poroperties. this does not happen ,.Instead it opens an explorer showing the last path as system 32. I am sure if I do a repair install whatever is corrupted in the registry will be fixed. I just feel thats a heck of a lot of work and re-installs for what should be a simple registry fix. The workarounds suggested are great but I would like my win 7 install fixed . thanks for the tips and the time taken. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

    stantheman,

I have the same problem. Did you ever find help? I've found that I can print from the viewer but can't print multiple pictures on a single page.

Sorry bdboston , I haven't had a satisfactory reply. Something has corrupted in the Win 7 inistall. It definately isn't other editing or photo applications. It worked fine for the first 2/3 months. I am sure that a repair install of windows will fix it. It would be good if a Microsoft certified techy could help though.

    Thanks for the reply Stantheman,

I've had this problem since day one and my laptop didn't come with a cd so more than likely my initial backup is corrupted. Bought a new printer at the same time and had printer hardware & driver issues. Replaced printer, HP finally released updated drivers and figured out I had a third problem with the laptop software. Have other PCs and would prefer to remain consistent with printing software, guess I'll work around until I hopefully stumble across a fix someday.

I'll let you know if I find anything.

    Thanks again, bdboston.
